2014 Red Carpet ~ Cannes

Over the years, Cannes has become less about the movies and much more about the glamour on the red carpet - at least for me. These are some of my favorites.

My top award goes to Jessica Chastain in Atelier Versace - the asymmetrical bodice and color were both perfection.

2014 Red Carpet ~ Met Gala

For this year's Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala, there were two themes (in my opinion): the named theme of "White Tie & Decorations" and the theme of the featured artist, Charles James. While the former was intended for the gentleman, the latter identified that the women should look like they came straight out of a Disney princess movie.
Named as America's First Couturier, Charles James is known for ball gowns, showcasing a woman's figure, eccentricity, and terrible business sense (undoubtedly connected to debilitating perfectionism). The red carpet was split down the middle with the women accommodating one theme or the other and I was overwhelmingly inspired by both the decorations, be they birdcage veils, statement necklaces, or embellishments, as well as the works of art that the designer himself could have created.

First, the "Charles James" inspired...
Taylor Swift & Karolina Kurkova
Karlie Kloss & Amy Adams

 Next, the "decorations" inspired…
Kristen Stewart, Nicole Richie, & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Margot Robbie, Beyonce, & Lake Bell

Who was my personal favorite? Model Liu Wen in Zac Posen.

2014 Red Carpet ~ Academy Awards

It felt as if everyone played it safe last night - classic silhouettes and nary a print in sight. But dare I say, even though I love my brights and print mixing, I was won over by the figure flattery of the darks, nudes, and whites. It definitely helped that a few ladies adornments made me say "Yes!," such as Anna Kendrick's matchy matchy manicure & clutch as well as Olivia Wilde's arm party. Scroll down to see my top two and the rest of my favorites.

2014 Red Carpet ~ Screen Actors Guild

For round two of the this year's red carpet season, there were a lot of hits (even more than at the Golden Globes) and choosing my favorites was very difficult, but here it goes...
Claire Danes, Malin Akerman, Lena Headey
Amy Adams, Camila Alves, Guiliana Rancic
Emilia Clarke, Isla Fisher, Laura Carmichael
My favorites?
Rose Leslie's dress and Natalie Dormer's ear cuff got my votes for "the best" of the night.

2014 Red Carpet ~ Golden Globes

While you may have not agreed with the winners of the Globes, we can agree that it was a colorful, sparkly, and risk taking night on the red carpet! I've selected the ones that made me swoon - who's looks were your favorite?
Melissa Rauch, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Lupita Nyong'o
Cate Blanchett, Olivia Wilde, Tina Fey
Julia Roberts, Emilia Clarke, Lizzy Caplan

And finally, my personal favorite - Emma Watson.

Meet the Met's Best

These are the top looks from the Met Gala last night. The theme was punk and each fashionista made it their own with feathers, spikes, studs, cut-outs, patterns, hair accessories, and amazing smokey eye make-up.

My overall favorite? Although it was really hard to decide, Jennifer Lawrence hit it out of the park with her black birdcage veil. I mean, what do you expect a bride-to-be to do when faced with wedding accessories? How about a guy's opinion? Dan's favorite was Blake Lively, even without knowing that her dress was silk organza and feathers and she rocked the color of the moment - mint. What was your favorite?

Met Gala 2011

The beauty that is displayed yearly at the Met Gala takes my breath away. This year it was in honor of the late, great Alexander McQueen. My faves...Blake Lively's draping, Salma Hayek and Gwyneth Paltrow's nudes, the brights on Zoe Saldana and Brooklyn Decker, Kristen Stewart's print, Dianna Agron's cuff, Eva Mendes' belt, as well as Mary Kate Olsen and Tory Burch's green jewelry. My award for best dressed period? Ginnifer Goodwin. The contrasting colors, the hair, the shoes, the cut outs and plunging neckline, the art deco necklace...it's perfection.
