Livin' on the Edge

The best thing to do with girly colors is give them a little edge, like with black coated jeans.

How do you live on the edge with your outfits?

That Dress for Girl's Night

Let's give it up for that dress!
1. You can wear it on it's own - it's just that cute, interesting, and flattering;
2. You can wear it with some casual layers - to make it autumn and errand appropriate.
3. And lastly, you can wear it for a night out with your favorite ladies.
This is the occasion to mix up patterns & colors and wear your highest heels with that extra accessory, be it a second cuff, silk scarf, or chandelier earrings. If I were a guest attending my own bachelorette party (which is happening in two short weeks), I would wear this exact outfit. However, since I am the VIP, my attire needs to be a bit more dramatic and Carrie-esque, so I'm bringing out the tulle!

Sepia

When you get your hair freshly dyed, there's less need for color in your outfit.
Well, maybe just one color, but it must match the hue of your new 'do.

The Crop Top

Well it only took a year and some change for me to take my own advice and rock a crop top...to the office, no less! It's amazing what a blazer, pencil skirt, and some streamlined heels can do for a super casual, outdoor festival only item of clothing. Now, on to pairing this gem with a maxi skirt and ankle booties for Lollapalooza tomorrow. I mean, it's possible I'll be wearing that, I'm still undecided on which of my festival combinations to chose...

Rethink

I've worn this shirt many times, but I had never considered the fact that it had a full zip on the back and therefore, could be turned around and become a jacket/cardigan! This opens up so many more layering opportunities, especially for summer since it's lightweight and bright.

The Opposite Of

I went through a few different titles for this blog post, all of which were words I have never used to describe myself - unfussy, low maintenance, simple, etc. I know that for some of you a silk blouse, four inch heels, statement earrings, tuxedo blazer, and a beaded purse are the opposite of the words mentioned; however, this outfit is plain in comparison to the multiple accessories & layers, at least one pattern, red lipstick, or a belt around the waist that's part of my everyday. Ya gotta step outside the comfort zone every once in a while - maybe I'll even wear a plain tee in the next post!

Insane

A seemingly insane mix of prints outside a previous "insane asylum" before eating an insanely good meal.

Note: I only used the words "insane asylum" to describe a psychiatric hospital to stick with the theme. This term is not appropriate nor encouraged to discuss individuals with mental illnesses or their treatment. Additionally, psychiatric hospitals in this form do not exist anymore for many reasons. Educate yourself.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most creative of them all? Well, I'm certainly not claiming that title; however, I am proud of this ensemble. I was inspired by Ms. Blair and even though I didn't have a dress, I did have a skirt and shirt that go together and were mistaken for one all day by on-lookers. Additionally, these shoes looked like this before, but with ankle strap sandals being THE shoe to have, I did some tweaking with some kitchen shears and voila! I'm remixing and DIY-ing with the best of 'em...err, maybe the least experienced of 'em.
