Knitted

If you don't have one already, get your paws on a loose knit sweater. It looks great with pencil skirts, slim trousers, boyfriend jeans, and sweet lil mini skirts. Even knot it over a maxi dress for a chilly summer evening instead of your jean jacket!

Shoes for Overexposed Toes

If you're like me, you might be sick of wearing gladiator sandals, espadrilles, boat shoes, nude peep toes, and wood platforms or any other shoes that we usually turn to in the summer. That's not to say that I won't continue to toss on my flip flops when it's so hot outside that you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, but it's nice to have some alternatives. Therefore...I give you the four types of shoes for overexposed toes and lots and lots and lots of street style photos via Pinterest to show you how to wear them.

This option is for those with some country in their soul! Especially in a cognac or tan, flat ankle boots enhance any outfit by adding a hippie chicness or a rock 'n' roll edge to some more prim and proper ensembles, especially after they've been scuffed up a bit. Wear these with pleated skirts, floral & lace dresses, or cut offs.
The most fashion forward of the shoes here is the wedge high top. Talk about comfy and casual while not sacrificing any leg lengthening benefits! Wear these like they're your favorite Converse All-Stars. These fierce pairs of gym shoes need to be the center of attention, so show 'em off with almost anything that hits above the knee, like a shift dress, asymmetrical hem skirt, or with a pair of skinnies tucked into the top!
While the other options cover up your pedi, these really make the toes the focus by offering almost as little coverage as a flip flop. With only two straps and a heel, you must keep your heels smooth but the payoff is sexier (and more comfortable) than you can imagine! These gems have no bounds on when not to wear them. They'll take the place of your favorite pumps in no time.
Taking influence from the gents, we have the oxford. I consider this the better version of the ballerina flat, of which we all have a few pairs of and have worn with everything in our closets. With options of metallic and bright colors, they're the perfect example of updated vintage. Plus, you have the option of infusing a pop of color with laces! Consider throwing these on with your flirty mini skirts, chino shorts, or shirtdress. Very dandy indeed!

Gems and Jeans

Just cuz you're wearing jean shorts and a concert tee doesn't mean that you can't wear gems, platforms, lipstick, and a daytime clutch. Actually, it means that you should! The trend of "high and low," aka wearing camo with sequins or chambray with tuxedo pants (like Ms. Jenna Lyons), also applies to accessories. After all, shouldn't you get more than one use out of that statement necklace? I thought so.

Green with Envy

Whilst perusing the ten outfits that I brought to wear in NYC (Yes, I checked my suitcase), my mom saw this leopard blouse, and decided to wear it the first night with some cobalt blue skinny jeans and nude heels. From that point, she decided that the blouse was hers. Since it looked amazing and she's given me the shirt off her back more times than I can count, I gladly handed it over. But, I still made it a point to find a replacement...the next day.

Tropics in the City

I've been dreaming about going on a tropical vacation forever, but I landed in NYC instead. I wasn't totally disappointed though. Actually, I was friggin' thrilled! Four days and four nights in Times Square, SoHo, Greenwich Village, Flatiron District, Fifth Ave, Central Park, etc with my best friend...my mom. But just to show a certain someone (ahem, boyfriend), that I'm still interested in a tropical getaway, I brought this dress.

Daylight Fading

Summer evening walks are the things of dreams (unless it's 100 degrees and humid). Especially when they end with chocolate dipped ice cream cones, sitting on a park bench watching people walking their dogs, and dreaming of which brownstone on Webster Ave. I will eventually inhabit.

Gypsy in my Soul

The word "boho" would not be one of the five words to describe my style; however, my musical taste is certainly of that variety. I attribute my love of Van Morrison to my hippie mother. Despite his disdain for his audience during live performances, I adore him and his songs. The lyrics speak to me in a way no other artist does. He sings of love and loss in such a vulnerable and nostalgic way that even if you didn't grow up going to Orangefield or walking on Cyrpress Avenue, you still take the journey there. Whether the tune is upbeat and danceable or melancholic, hypnotic, and lacking in any structure, it's always full of an insatiable passion. If that didn't sell you on Van the Man, check out the album "Astral Weeks" because he is so much more than "Brown Eyed Girl."

Rhinestone Cowboy

Apparently, I'm still in a Nashville state of mind. Ya know, walkin' the streets, singing the same old song on those dirty Broadway sidewalks. And while I've compromised on the road to my horizon, I'll end up where the lights are shinin' on me...like a rhinestone cowboy.
