Just Two Preggos

When Dan & I found out we were expecting (at five weeks), we couldn't contain our excitement and told all of our closest friends and family immediately. One of my bestests, Lizzie, was able to contain hers until the 12 week doctor appointment. Since she is six weeks ahead of me, I was able to discuss my joys and difficulties of pregnancy from the start with someone who knew exactly what I was going through. It's been a great joy to share our "firsts" together and also an absolutely necessity for our sanity!
Love you, Lizzie Lou.

This Month...

…we found out it's a boy!
Llewyn Nicholas Opels will be joining us around November 5.

…I felt (and continue to feel) lots of likely breakdancing moves from our son.
It's the most surreal and grounding experience.

…I bought a pair of faux Birkenstocks at Marshall's to take Walter outside, but have worn them out on the town multiple times. I am a slides girl!

…I am conceding to cravings (anything with bleu cheese, wraps & sandwiches, and ice cream) and the fact that my closet aka our second bedroom needs to be downsized to make room for the nursery.

…Dan received his first unofficial Father's Day gift (a reclaimed wood Chicago flag) and Walter got his freedom back from the "snip, snip go the nuggets" cone.

Sheer and Presently Pregnant

My newest obsession is a sheer hemline.
Oh, and wearing dark lipstick in the summer - it feels even more chic than during the apropos winter months.

Minimalism

I've never been one for minimalism, except recently. Maybe it's that I'm really accepting and celebrating my pregnant frame - to be honest, I like showing off my bump!

Pregnant in Pink

Sixteen weeks and all is well - strong heartbeat and on target growth, of baby and me. I realize that the title of this post might have made you think we are having a girl, but alas, we have to wait another month to find out - June 24 to be exact. Regardless of the gender, we've decided on a color scheme for the nursery of gray and primary colors (red, blue, green and yellow) with accents of mint. Check out my growing inspiration board here. Do you have a guess? Of our family & friends, 95% think it's a girl - including my husband!

Dressing for the Lil Bump

Well it happened, I'm dressing for the bump.
For now, it includes oversized blazers & vests atop roomy shirts with leggings or elastic waist trousers finished with a scarf or statement necklace. Now, that's not to say that pencil skirts, fit & flare dresses, and boyfriend jeans won't be in my rotation - I just need to purchase a few that are a little roomier since I look like I have a "food baby" that doesn't go away. Once I officially "pop" you better believe I'm  investing in some maternity gear!

Coming in November

We're having a baby!
On March 6, Dan and I began the nine (actually ten) month journey of bringing a baby into our world. We are overjoyed, in awe, and completely enamored with our son or daughter. Thankfully, I've had a rather easy pregnancy - no morning sickness, just intense fatigue and an incredible appetite! As of today, I'm 13 weeks and 5 days so just in my second trimester. We've had two doctors appointments - one at 13 weeks (picture on the left) and one at 9 weeks (picture on the right) confirming that we have a healthy, growing baby. While I know it can be silly, I love imagining lil Opels as the size of corresponding fruits, so right now, baby is a lemon. I'm already wearing the crap out of my BeBand and can't wait to share my evolving bump & style these next six or so months!
