Garden Unit

I know nothing of gardening, or having plants for that matter. I recently invested in three cacti from Ikea and I think they will survive because of the following:
1). You are supposed to water them only when they are really, really dry and therefore, don't require monitoring.
2). They need minimal sunlight, which in a garden apartment is the only kind of plant we can manage.
Now, if I knew how to plant things, I would have a garden full of lilacs, blush Gerbera daisies, and succulents, which would certainly match my outfit, but not my skill set.

Skirt Suit

Even though I passed on the pill box hat (in favor of a cameo brooch), I felt very Jackie Kennedy in this skirt suit. The boucle texture and boxy, collarless jacket is incredibly ladylike, form fitting, and timeless while still serving a professional function. After all, Mrs. Kennedy herself did say, "There are two kinds of women: those who want power in the world, and those who want power in bed." I feel like in this skirt suit, you can be both!

Escher

Growing up, we had a copy of M.C. Escher's "Day and Night" in our living room and whenever I wear graphic black & white, it reminds me of his work. The use of interlocking figures and mathematical perspective achieves dimensions and symmetry that trick the eye and keep you staring all day. I'll have to get a copy for our new apartment, which we found on beautiful Sunnyside Ave. in Lincoln Square!

Drop It Like It's Hot

Although I've said over and over that your waist is a few inches above your belly button, there is a time for a drop waist...and nearly everything. Except for a rapper changing his name after 20 years. Snoop Lion? You'll always be Snoop Dog to us.

Peachy Keen

If someone asked me, "How you doing today?" I would sound a heck of a lot like Rizzo in "Grease" as I say, "Peachy keen, jellybean," with her signature snark.

Mixed Metal

For a while, I was a firm believer in that fact that silver & gold should never be worn together. This is probably why I had a tough time imagining getting married - if I had a platinum ring, how would I wear gold jewelry? Thankfully, I've accepted the idea of mixing my metals, much like I got over my aversion for pairing black & brown (as seen here, here, and here). Therefore, think of your bangles, charms, or rings for their texture, shape, or size, rather than their metal. When you start to see your accessories as rocker, hippie, geometric, or girlie rather than viewing them as gold, silver, gunmetal, brass, or rose gold, your options are limitless!
