I was so excited my bachelorette party weekend, which occurred on September 28. My maid of honor and I went up to Lake Geneva on Friday to have a relaxing dinner that would then be followed by some other fab ladies joining us for a wine tasting and night out on Saturday. However, our date night was rudely interrupted when my platform heel guided me off the sidewalk and I fell. It turned out that I had broken my ankle in two places! After the ambulance ride and a few hours in the ER, I was casted and sent on my way with crutches that I soon traded in for a wheelchair that we borrowed from the hotel. I thought everything was ruined and I had no idea how I was going to socialize or even be vertical, but with kind and encouraging words from my maid of honor and fiancé (who drove up as so on as he heard the news), I realized that I could still have fun and that the pain from sitting around those I love would be no different than if I was pouting at home! So I put on my tutu (took some of the prescribed pain meds) and it turned out to be the most memorable of weekends and I am so thankful for all the love and support and pampering I got from my ladies.
I have an orthopedic appointment today to determine the prognosis and to hopefully be cast free by our wedding - wish me luck!
