Drop It Like It's Hot

Although I've said over and over that your waist is a few inches above your belly button, there is a time for a drop waist...and nearly everything. Except for a rapper changing his name after 20 years. Snoop Lion? You'll always be Snoop Dog to us.

Ode to Taylor Tomasi Hill - Interpreting High Fashion

With fashion weeks worldwide upon us, the quality of street style has increased exponentially. Especially with the presence of this fiery red head - Taylor Tomasi Hill, the artistic director for Moda Operandi and previous style and accessories director of Marie Claire. Without fashion houses running to dress you, it's tough to say that you can achieve all of her looks or be photographed by Tommy Tom or Bill Cunningham. However, a few key items, paired together with her signature flair will ensure that you can steal the spotlight and gain some ooh's and aah's from your co-workers, boyfriends, girlfriends, or passersby.

The "top 10" lessons to be learned from TTH:
1. Wear tones of neutrals (beige with camel or gray with slate) with a pop of bright color
2. Pair navy with black
3. Always. Always wear a scarf.
4. Thigh high boots add edge to slouchy separates and layers
5. Tuck in just the front of your sweater or blouse and wear your coat on just your shoulders
6. Adopt a "below the knee" rule for skirts
7. Invest in a leather pencil skirt
8. Put a collar under your sweater to add some prim & proper
9. Show some skin with caged heels
10. One pattern can be enough.

TTH not your fave? What about Jenna Lyons, Serena van der Woodsen, or Gwen Stefani?

His Favorite

For those of you who know him, it's no surprise that my bf is my biggest fan. Every time he looks at me in my daily outfits, he shows a sweet smile and gives me a wink while saying, "You look great, honey." I believe him every time...and you would too. He's incredibly sincere. So when he said that this outfit was his favorite, I knew that was a big deal. You see, my bf pays attention to details, and the fact that I pulled each color of the dots in my shirt to my blazer, watch, shoes, purse, and skirt, was not lost on him. As if he wasn't a keeper already.

Transitional Hues

The month of September is transitional, and I transitioned with three key colors: peach, purple, and teal.

Mixed Emotions

I don't know about you, but I have mixed emotions coming into a new season. I'm incredibly excited about the weather, yet completely anxious about what to wear. With questions such as: What will still be in style from last year? What will transition from summer to fall? When is it time to break out a thick sweater, leather, or a fur accent? It can leave a girl stumped in front of her closet. That's where I have been this past week...scratching my head whilst staring at my clothes, trying on eight different outfits, and then tossing them on the floor when they felt stale. I haven't determined yet how to get out of this rut, except to buy, buy, buy and consign, consign, consign. Since that option sounds expensive, I've taken a step back, repeated some outfits (the horror!) and will gain some new inspiration from Pinterestfellow fashion bloggers, and you...my readers! What items have you found that are key pieces for this time of year? What's your favorite outfit you've put together recently?
