Twiggy

I've got the pixie cut. I've got the mod dress. I do not have a 31-23-32 figure. I'm more on par with the Baby Got Back numbers...adjusted for inflation, since I'm also not 5' 3".

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather

While I've seen many Disney movies and read many Brother's Grimm tales, "Sleeping Beauty" is certainly my favorite. It's funny, beautiful, and a bit scary - Maleficent still gives me nightmares! My favorite scene is in the cottage with the three Good Fairies (Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather) when they're cleaning and preparing for Princess Aurora's surprise birthday. They gave it their all to not use magic, but with an unbaked cake and a horrendous dress, they definitely needed it! If only they had remembered to close the chimney, or handle their differences without an argument of blue and pink fireworks...

A Statement

On any given day, we send out an impression to passers by through what we wear and how we carry ourselves. A mood and personality is displayed without even using words. So, what statement are you making today?

Peachy Keen

If someone asked me, "How you doing today?" I would sound a heck of a lot like Rizzo in "Grease" as I say, "Peachy keen, jellybean," with her signature snark.

Ms. Alba

I have many a style crush. At the top of the list are Gwen, Blake, and Jenna, but I have to say that Ms. Jessica Alba's style during 2012 has been killer, especially in the denim department. She works every color of the rainbow, large floral prints, black skinnies, faded boyfriend fits, and a perfect 70's flare (which I unknowingly recreated here). I am excited to see how she works the waxed, leather, and animal print varieties for fall. Speaking of which, I'm on the hunt for an oxblood pair of waxed skinnies to take part in the Bloggers Do It Better challenge - where should I look?

Who Hoo

I have quite an obsession with owls. It began only recently, but it is full-fledged and seems to me fairly timely. These lil hooters are everywhere...in home goods, sweaters, and my favorite...pendant necklaces.

Half Tuck

There is a serious trend happening with blouses, and all it takes is a little tucking. The key is to tuck in the front "under" side of your blouse but leave the front "over" side untucked. It works best with pants, from loose to skin tight, since it showcases the separation, and therefore, the shape of your leg. Despite the fact that you can pull this look off with trousers in tweed, silk, and all other 9-5 textures, it still displays a casual mentality...like it's 6pm on a Friday and you can finally loosen the tie or shed the suit jacket.

Mixed Metal

For a while, I was a firm believer in that fact that silver & gold should never be worn together. This is probably why I had a tough time imagining getting married - if I had a platinum ring, how would I wear gold jewelry? Thankfully, I've accepted the idea of mixing my metals, much like I got over my aversion for pairing black & brown (as seen here, here, and here). Therefore, think of your bangles, charms, or rings for their texture, shape, or size, rather than their metal. When you start to see your accessories as rocker, hippie, geometric, or girlie rather than viewing them as gold, silver, gunmetal, brass, or rose gold, your options are limitless!

Cold Shoulder

Well, I did it. I purchased an Equipment blouse and boy, oh boy, was it worth it! After realizing that peach is going to be my go-to neutral for fall (think of it with cognac, plum, mustard, teal, burnt orange, etc.), I had to start the search for a blouse that I could pair with all of those autumnal hues. So, I started scouring my usual suspects of XXI, ASOS, and J.Crew, but when I came up empty, I remembered this post by one of my favorite bloggers. And there it was, on shopbop.com, and the best part? It was on sale! The shopping gods smiled down on me and when that happens, you take advantage, my friends. Never turn a cold shoulder to an amazing blouse on sale, especially when it feels so exquisite on your skin. Literally, like butter

P.Y.T.

There's something about wearing black and white that always makes me think of Michael Jackson (as seen here). Maybe it's because he sings a song about those colors (duh, Jenny). And even though the guitar riff in the beginning of that song jump starts my dancing engine, P.Y.T. is my absolute favorite. I mean, who doesn't want to hear that they'll be given TLC and taken "there?" Yeah, me too.

Mad Men

Although peplum is the most up to date version of a shift dress, pairing it with cat eye glasses and a couple pieces of jewelry from my Aunt Betty's collection, take it right back to the 60s. Now, if only that combination meant that I could sip on a martini with Don Draper...

The month of August required a great deal of sunglasses...since my future's so bright.
